200...and Counting!

How many charm squares does it take to make a double bed quilt?

If I were the clever, thrifty, think-ahead type I would know the answer to this question.
BUT
I am making this one up as I go along and not the least fussed about numbers :)

I have been quite smitten for a while now with yellow and grey fabric and quilts.
I've had this fabric stashed since early in the year, and am thrilled to finally have
 time to work on it.
I have been playing with block layouts and will be going with these two.
I nearly have all my initial half-square triangle blocks finished, so should be able to start piecing the bigger blocks together this weekend.

I am not now so convinced, I might add, about the solid grey I have chosen,
(it looked so 'warm' in the shop...while the  paler grey looked washed out...)
But it is too late now!
I have been thinking about some quilting techniques that may make the grey retreat and help the yellows to pop. We'll see.

It's so nice to get back to some big quilt making - I've missed working on large patchwork projects while I've been at TAFE.

Have a lovely weekend everyone

Kathy

  3. Wow you have moved fast on this one :) It is so hard to say about the colours till it is all done :) Maybe you could do the binding in a yellow if you get to that point and still aren't as happy as you would like :)

  5. Love this already. The grey works well as contrast to the pretty yellows.
    Enjoy putting this together.
